Sustainable development

A prosperous territory in harmony with nature

The considerable extension of the EUROACE territory and the secular preservation of its natural habitat provide a great diversity of high quality natural resources, together with the availability of water, land and nature in abundance. These are definitely the natural resources that characterize the EUROACE’s identity and on which it should base its development.

EUROACE has a broad network of natural spaces of high environmental quality in which many different ecosystems and species cohabit, the most important of which is the Mediterranean forest of Holm oaks (dehesa). Exploitation of natural resources and respect towards the environment have been the norm since time immemorial.

More than 40% of the Euroregion’s land surface corresponds to forest areas or natural spaces. EUROACE also has the largest network of reservoirs in the peninsula. They offer thousands of kilometres of interior coastline and numerous possibilities of use (industry, irrigation, energy production, tourism . . .).
